A friend today asked me about starting as a War it made me think about where I came from it was more then a year ago I started. So here is my story and my Answer to the question:

To be honest it was like yesterday lol. Okay my experience is one that few really know and I never brought it up but as I started the game as a War I never thought to pre level a sub lol. Subjob what was that lol. I was a super newbie had just gotten the game and was off from work during christmas break so I really didn't know anything about nada zip nothing. Just a beautiful women told me about how she played Everquest and I thought about that and other engineer as well told me how they played EQ and I decided well my experiences playing XBOX/Ps2 online games was getting bad way to many cheats and exploits. Then I saw EQ and the graphics turned me off I thought well why not check out all of them hey if she plays them it can't be bad. So I start to look around and saw the Final Fantasy XI I was a advent fan of X it to me was the best looking game I had ever seen the opening was one that just blew me away on my PS2 heck I became a Blitzball junky I mastered that game at one point went 82-0 before I left even won the big tournament. Jecht shot 1 and 2 was just insane to me.

Okay back on point so I didnt even hit the dunes until like 12-13 maybe even 14 I think using sword and shield. Learning everything by the seat of my pants I just was always pissed that I couldn't heal and resting took so long. I finally got invited to the dunes where really quickly I had the 3 subjob items lol and learned about subjobs and got my first major linkshell Extreme. Now with little knowledge and a lot of ambition I thought to myself what subjob would benefit me the most hmmm. WHM yes that will do heck I could heal yeah thats the ticket. Little did I realize at the time how it would look nore did I care really. I took my whm up using H2H and owning mobs lol whm/war was putting the beat down on mobs and man I leveled fast I actually got to 30 War in about week. During that time I realized I needed more information and started doing serious research on the web of course I had the guide heck I have both guides of mass sucking lol. I learned quickly in qufim that the game changed rapidly the underleveled subs the wrong subs I didn't think is was as bad as it was lol. Being new and truely ignorant of the total party dynamics were bliss, I was determined to play how I wanted to play. I actually early on realized that Crystals selling on the AH equal mad gil for gear so I researched where I could get items and had gotten a Axe, and Great Axe to level up it is slower but hits so hard it is really sweet all depends on what you fight. So saying that I actuall took war/whm to 30 and realized that I needed blm leveled to whm and if I was leveling it anyway might as well get warp. I took to the game like a fish to water I started to study it like it was a science project and I was on the threshold of curing cancer lol.

Those days are long gone I feel like I have been beaten down by the establishment the natural creativeness I am so use to is gone kinda like we are stuck in the military with rules and regulations you shall conform or be shuned. Wow I felt I went from the real world back to High School lol. Even people making derogatory comments about peoples choices always amazed me but since its a party game they believe as it somewhat does what others do effect them. The XP per hour gods must be respected and obeyed omg we didnt get chain X. So I think I did about as much research as possible on all the subs and combinations realized that the game was heavily culturally influenced by Japan. And that nationalism and racism was really apparent. I put as much work into researching this game as I had getting my college degree i think.

The fun of being on a Linkshell with a huge bunch of people that worshipped the JP player after a while just started to bother me some what I would say. Every time I logged in all I would read was the god like power of the JP party and how NA was too weak that wasn't said but you got the vibe pretty hard. It was constant to the point I had to find out what was the difference what was the magic? It is just a game is it not why would they be so much better players than us. I never played a computer game where I thought a another race/nationality had a advantage over any other do they have inside info? Do they get gil and gear from developers in secret. The answer to all was a big no the real keys was that they had the game a year longer. They had it when almost the word nerf was never uttered making gil was easy back in the day way easier then today. They had a huge head start and all NA players had to play catchup. They had done all the same things we did and learned just as everyone does over time the big difference was it wasn't a competion as much as they all were learning by trial and error. They formed shells for sharing of information and helping each other later as they got more powerful things changed to where we are at today. Man Shiva was one of the cheapest servers and yes ancient secret gil sellers and yes many forums have people from every nation selling characters and gil long before IGE and others they have been around since the game was created it just went big time after the ps2 introduction. So that is why I put tons of work into the game to really understand the nature of the game and the community. I left Extreme after someone decided that the N- word against blacks was okay in jokes I didnt belive so and used my /blist quickly they complained about a lot of noncense but racism was okay. Drop pearl never looked back I missed some in Extreme I could never get them to do anything for me but could catch a ride to get a job open lol. Could you help me get X silence. Hey you guys are going to open Dragoon can I please tag along? ok thanks........ Thats how I opened all my jobs got turned down many times but eventually they let me go lol man did I feel like a beggar please sir can I have another.

Man did I digress lol back to War as a War you really have many options if not going higher then 18 you can easily get by with subbing whm. Thf gives nothing until 30 other then gilfinder and steal only at THF15 subbed do you get any real value sneak attack + Great Axe = Sickness. As a Taru war/whm you may have more mp then a PLD that level and will have more useful spells poisona. Carry cheap mp juice you can make on the fly you have no issues what so ever it is how you play a PLD has very low mp at those levels. Heck carry stacks of selbina milk for hit point regen it is cheap if you solo. They really don't even become a standout tank until they get flash really. Must melee classes can tank until 30 with the right gear check out the defense it is close to the same it changes after 30 but before then almost all melee wear the same gear. Just my opinion before 30 the subjob doesn't have the huge impact at 30 it changes if ninja subbed 24 since ichi is 12.

Now today truely we have a huge advantage we can travel anywhere and afford the best low level gear and foods and juice we are just like those that came before us. Starting I would dream of eating food or drinking juice now it is simply very very cheap. The students have become the masters.
